The European Solidarity Corps is a programme managed by the European Commission. The ESC brings together young people to build a more inclusive society, supporting vulnerable people and responding to societal and humanitarian challenges. It offers an inspiring and empowering experience for young people who want to help, learn and develop and provides a single entry point for such solidarity activities throughout the Union and beyond.
Types of volunteering:
Short-term: 2–8 weeks
Long-term: 2–12 months
Formats: Individual or team volunteering
Who can participate?
You can register from age 17
You can start volunteering from age 18
Standard eligibility: 18–30 years old
For Humanitarian Aid (VOL-HUMAID): up to 35 years old
Participation rules:
You can take part in one long-term individual volunteering activity (2–12 months)
If you join a short-term individual activity (up to 2 months), you can still:
Participate later in one long-term activity
Join team volunteering activities
Get involved in Solidarity Projects, jobs, or traineeships
